FAQs
What do www.patentpapers.com's products
do?
Patent Reader and PatPDF let you view, print, and save Patents
and Patent Publications from the United States Patent and
Trademark Office (USPTO). Althought the text of these patent
papers is freely available from the USPTO, having only the
text is rarely adequate.
Why do I need more than the text of a
Patent or a Patent Publication?
There are several reasons, including the fact that much of
the information you need is contained the documents drawings.
Without the drawings, most patents are unintelligible.

How can I simplify entering Patent or
Patent Publication numbers into PatPDF?
You can use Window's copy and paste commands to save time
and reduce typing errors. If you copy a block of text containing
Patent or Patent Application numbers onto the Windows clipboard
(select the text, the press Control + C), you can past the
block directly into PatPDF's input window. It's fine to paste
text that contains a mixture of numbers and words into PatPDF.
PatPDF will pick out the patent numbers and will ignore the
extraneous material.
Is there a limit to the amount of material
I can download?
Yes and No. These programs will let you view of save as many
documents as you wish. The programs are unlimited. However,
the USPTO does not want commercial database services to "data
mine" the USPTO's files, so if it detects too many downloads
from one computer (one IP address) the USPTO might block requests
from that address.
